How to maintain oral hygiene to avoid affecting the braces while having a clean mouth and teeth?

For good oral hygiene while wearing bracket type braces, use the following procedures:

Use a soft toothbrush.

Use a specialized toothbrush (interdental brushes).

Use dental floss.

Use toothpaste with fluoride.

While wearing braces, use soft interdental brushes for dental hygiene

Proper brushing

Place the brush on the teeth next to the gumline, brush in small circles. You can push the bristles through the steel wire from the top and under the braces to remove food and plaque beneath the steel wire. Make sure the bristles pushed against the gums and teeth. If not teeth brushing will not be effective.

Use specialized toothbrushes (interdental brushes)

nterdental brushes are very effective to remove large quantities of food debris, which is also needed daily to remove plaque on the teeth and gums. Alter the steel wire part of the brush to the appropriate angle. Place the brush under the archwire, from the gum to the side of the bite, brush slowly, 15 times, from one bracket to another. After using the interdental brush for each bracket, use a regular brush following the instruction above.

Mouth rinsing is also a way of caring for teeth when wearing braces

Use of dental floss

Floss at least once a day, preferably after all meals. When wearing braces, it is difficult to loop the thread under the archwire, but there are special tools for that, which are floss threaders and a special silk thread.

Floss at least once a day

Fluoride

Always use toothpaste and mouthwash with fluoride. They will provide fluoride to protect and strengthen the teeth during the braces.
